Group Writing Exercises
For Characters
- Get in a circle. Each person must have one pen and one pencil. Two options: take a movie character or select one person in the room. Then, each person describes that person from your own perspective as though it were in a story. Then, share your descriptions with each other. The interesting part of this exercise, beside developing description, is it'll teach how each person will interpret a someone in a different way. Different perspectives is always interesting. Everyone perceives someone else differently. (You may want to use the movie character option so you can be more free about what you say in your descriptions, since you'll share it and may insult someone if you're 100 percent truthful.)
